Current Work and Research

Viktor Genel’s current work asks how an artwork can arise through bodily action before a predetermined image has been formed. It examines drawing not only as visual composition, but as a physical event involving gesture, pressure, friction, resistance, breakage, interruption, and material retention.

This work is documented in the Arteanity Digital Archive. The archive connects individual artifacts with essays that place the practice in relation to established questions in drawing, abstraction, process art, indexicality, authorship, and generative imagery.

Arteanity

Arteanity is the digital archive in which this work is documented through individual artifact records, material histories, related bodies of work, and critical essays. Its present inquiry centers on what bodily action, material resistance, and irreversible physical evidence can contribute before visual interpretation begins. The Arteanity Theory section approaches that inquiry through established questions about drawing, abstraction, intention, physical traces, and generative imagery.

From Established Questions to a New Archive

These essays do not use established categories as final definitions. They use them as points of entry, then identify where the documented practice requires a more exact account. The artifact records preserve the material facts; the essays examine what those facts require us to reconsider.
